In April 1945, the concentration camp Bergen-Belsen was liberated by the British troops. 70 years later the British definitively withdrew their forces from Hohne Sation - with barracks in Bad Fallingbostel and Bergen. Within the past decades , the memorial originated with a modern documentation center near the site of the former concentration camp. In 1945 the Wehrmacht used a part of the barracks in Bergen-Hohne as a so-called "barracks camp". After liberation, the British military has set up a large part of the garrison as a Displaced-Persons camp.
Due to this historical context and geographical proximity to Europe's largest military training area Blaffert & Wamhof took an opportunity to take photographs of architecture and lanscape at different places as part of The Garrison Project. The documentary shows a subjective inventory.
